I received it today and apparently the button I need to push in order to get this to work with my garage door is behind a panel that is screwed on at the top of my garage ceiling. I'm short so even with a ladder I can't reach where it needs to be unscrewed, if it just popped in I could get it, but poor planning apparently. Called a garage door person and they are coming tomorrow to fix it for me. Super pissed, also this remote no longer takes the A23 battery. It apparently takes some sort of button battery now, which would have been awesome to know before purchase. The small line that says the battery is included isn't helpful when it fails to mention the kind or size. Lastly I bought this when it said two day delivery (Saturday) I recieved it on the following Thursday, even with the holiday on Monday this should have come on Wednesday at the latest. Overall this was a frustrating purchase. One has been working fine, I lost one in a rental car and the other had stopped working (changed battery, reprogrammed but didn't respond). I had just one and was working with it for over the past two years. I was extremely hesitant to buy these, read reviews and was skeptical if these would work. Received them within 4 days of order. Received this morning and programmed both to two of my doors, both work just fine, simple to set up, overall time less than 2 minutes including both. I would definitely buy more if required and highly recommend these. Thanks, Amazon! (No free set received for a positive review, my honest review and totally based on my experience). I will update this review if anything changes. If I pressed it really hard, it would work. I found this one and worked perfectly after programming it to the opened by pushing the learn button on the garage door opened, and pressing the button on the remote three times. It seems to have better range than the original as can open it 2-3 houses away as approaching the garage.

Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness. Please try again later. bysny 5.0 out of 5 stars My Genie opener is also from 2000 and I ordered two of these remotes. They both set up easily and are working great. In fact, so great, I'm ordering two more. Hope they set up as easily.Ordered two new remotes and programmed them in as the instructions said. Only one problem I had with programming them. I had to many remotes programmed into the unit including the old ones that I was throwing away and it would only allow me to add one remote. Then I had to reprogram all my units including the remote on the outside of the door and my other vehicles. All is working well now!Tried half a dozen times. Followed owners manual to the letter. Press learn button, red light blinks, press remote, light should stay solid red and learn.did not, does not happen.disappointed.I am reading the reviews and kinda worry that the remote will not work or I cannot get a refund. Take a chance to order the 2-pack. They shipped the remotes from New Jersey. The remotes come in a plastic bag inside one of those yellow shipping envelope with air bubbles inside. I try to put a battery in but it turns out the remote is in one piece and already has a built-in battery. I cannot open the battery compartment. Although the remote looks like there is a battery compartment. It is not. They just copy the style to look like the OEM. This remote looks like the OEM but it is actually smaller in size. I have some pictures. It comes with the instruction. I don't know what type of battery they soldered in the remote or how long the battery will last. The 12v battery in the OEM outlasted the OEM itself for me. 5 stars for now. Hope the battery will last for years.I have been without a remote for a week and absolutely thrilled this is working again. Thank you so much.

This small, black, unmarked button is located behind the light lens at the motor head and is nearest the floppy 6 inch antenna wire that protrudes from the motor head. When pressed, a radio signal indicator light will start blinking red for 30 seconds. After pressing the Learn Code Button, press your transmitter button twice for your system to grab the frequency and code it in. (Keep the transmitter you're tuning at least 2 feet away from the power head while tuning.) Press the transmitter button once more to test the system and start your door moving.Press it then press the button on the remote 3 times and try it. If not try it again. Genies are bad for not coding in the first time. Make sure there are new batteries in it. Thanks BBCan you help? An older one will not work with new devices. If it will not program it will be the openers fault not the remote. Thanks BBTo begin with, several attempts were made using the programming instructions contained in my Jaguar ’ s owner ’ s manual. Though the procedure described in the owner ’ s manual was straight-forward and understandable, I was unsuccessful in getting the vehicle ’ s remote to make my garage door opener function. The particular garage door openers I have are both made by Genie. Both openers utilize the “ Rolling Code ” feature. To begin with, be sure to clear previous codes on your Jaguar ’ s garage door opener by first turning (rotating) the ignition key to the “ I ” position (first notch). Next, simultaneously hold button 1 (left most button) and button 3 (right most button) down until the middle button ’ s red light changes from continuous on to a rapid flash. This process takes approximately 20-25 seconds. What follows is a two part process. In the first part, get your Genie portable remote and hold it near (approximately 3 inches away from) your Jaguar ’ s garage door opener console buttons.

Choose which button on your Jaguar ’ s remote you wish to dedicate to your Genie door opener and simultaneously press and hold your Genie opener button and your Jaguar ’ s opener button. You have just completed part 1 of the two part process. Part two: Now it is time to utilize the “ Learn ” function on your Genie garage door opener. Press the “ Learn ” button on your Genie garage door opener. The red LED adjacent to the “ Learn ” button will begin to flash. You now have 30 seconds in which to program your Jaguar ’ s opener button. Using the same button you just used in the “ part 1 ” procedure, press and hold the same button for several seconds. As before, your Jaguar ’ s red light in the middle button will light up and within 1-2 seconds, it will flash rapidly. Release the button you are programming. Now, here is the key piece of information. Once again, press and hold that same button. Once again, the center button ’ s red light will flash rapidly. Release your newly programmed button. This procedure proved successful in my application. Here is what has just happened. The first time you pressed your Jaguar ’ s remote button tells the Genie opener that it exists and that it is a viable candidate for making your life easier (opening the damn door). The second time you press your Jaguar ’ s remote button confirms to the Genie ’ s rolling code that your Jaguar ’ s signal is legitimate and is to be trusted from then on. I would like to program the HomeLink in my car to open the garage door. I have manual Answer questions, earn points and help others. If you get it, press the button to see if the red light comes on. If so, then all that is left is program it, to match the door opener. I did open the small cover and was empty, but the red light still came on when the button was pressed, so that is not where the battery is located. When the battery does go out some day, I will then figure out how to replace it. For now though, perfect replacement at a lot less the Genie wants for one with their logo stamped on it.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. On the motor head press the learn button and then press the button on the remote 3 times. If it looks like the remote will work the opener or it opens the unit but not close it you are experiencing safety sensor problems. Make sure they are aligned. There will be a light on each and each should be on. Check the wiring to them too. They are not polarized. Thanks BB It will be the only one you can press. Some older units have dip switches which look like a row of toggle switches. If so there will be no learn button. Thanks BB If the light will go off now replace the wall button. If not then you will need to replace the logic board on this unit(genie.com for replacement). Protect this with a surge protector as well 900 joules or higher. Thanks BB Remove the lens and the switch set is usually located on the left as you look at it. It's either a 9 or 12 switch set. Match the numbered switches on both the remote and the receiver, and it should work. Oh, and make sure the battery is fresh.

To clear the openers you need to locate the learn code button. This button is (usually) under the white lens cover just push it and hold it in until the red light stops flashing then do the same thing to your other opener. This clears out all remote controls that are programmed to these openers. Try the remote to make sure the units were properly cleared. Neither opener should activate if this was done correctly. After units are properly cleared push the learn code button on the opener that you want this remote to open. The learn code led will flash, then press the button on the remote once (learn code goes solid), press the remote a second time ( learn code goes out). Press the remote a 3rd time and opener should activate. Login to post I would like to program the HomeLink in my car to open the garage door. I think someone has access to mine. As to programming garage door opener, I did like here: programming garage door opener This is a 3 button remote, which can be used to operate up to 3 garage doors using IntelliCode radio controls. This remote is defaulted to operate the new IntelliCode 2 Genie garage door openers, but you can also program individual buttons to operate other IntelliCode 1 (pre 2011) models of Genie garage door openers made from 1998 to present. To change a button to operate a pre 2011 IntelliCode opener, the default IntelliCode 2 setting must be changed to IntelliCode 1. An LED light on the remote displays which mode the remote button is in. To set one of the 3 buttons to be IntelliCode 1 (red), follow the instructions below:Both Red and Green LEDs come on and stay on. The IntelliCode selection for this button is set to IntelliCode 1. You are now ready to program the remote to your garage door. Programming Instructions: Gently press the Receiver Learn Code button on the power head receiver of your Genie garage door opener ( motor head on ceiling in garage ).
